Friday, January 12: Catch the departing comet! After sunset today you still have a chance to spot Comet McNaught from mid-northern latitudes — and possibly even on Saturday too. But the comet is dropping ever lower very fast now. Starting about 20 minutes after sunset, scan for it with binoculars just above the west-southwest horizon, far to the lower right of Venus.
