The novelty of the two crop circles discovered in a Howell Township wheat field a few weeks ago hasn't yet worn off.

Just ask Mike Esper, the farmer in whose wheat field the 55-foot and 4-foot depressions were discovered. In the past few days, his field has become something of a local attraction, drawing visitors from all over the state and many news outlets.

It even caused two area radio personalities, Corky and Gallagher from The Buck Head Show on Channel 95.5, to claim responsibility Tuesday for making the crop circles. Station operations manager Dom Theodore apologized on air to listeners and to Esper, but the station retracted its claim Wednesday and said the show members' claim was a hoax.

Esper threatened to sue the station if the personalities continued to claim responsibility, saying he would seek damages for his crops and for the inconvenience the circles have brought his life.

Jeff Wilson of Dexter, a cropcircle researcher, attributed the statement to a publicity stunt and said he would stand by his work. He didn't expect the personalities, even if they created a circle as challenged, to be able to come up with the plant anomalies of expanded wheat joints, which he considers to unhoaxable.
